AUBURN - Area gymnasts battled it out on Sunday at the USA Gymnastics Zone Championship gymnastics meet in Roseville - this competition an only shot to qualify to state championships for some, and they delivered.


Auburn Gymnastics Center level four team came up big wining the third place team award behind Tricks Folsom Gymnastics and Extreme Gymnastics but ahead of Byers Roseville Gym, Miyagi Gymnastics, Fox gymnastics and International Gymnastics. “This is a huge win for us,” Coach Natalie Otis from Auburn Gymnastics Center said. “I am so happy for our girls.”
   The club qualified a total of ten gymnasts to their state championship meet. State qualifiers from Auburn Gymnastics Center are Madison Candler, Megan Leaman, Maggie Moore, Allyson Osborn, Kelsey Phillips, Madelyn Schildmeyer, Katie Ring, Janna Woodward, Elizabeth Jordan and Kendall Sprowl.
   Aside from qualifying, the accomplished gymnasts also won several individual titles. In the level four junior 9 division from Auburn Gymnastics Center Madison Candler got second place on vault with a 9.4, third place on bars with a 9.1, fourth place on beam with an 8.575 and fourth place on floor with a 9.0. She won third place all-around with a 36.075. In the junior 10 from Auburn Gymnastics Center Maggie Moore got third place on vault with a 9.275, second place on beam with an 8.85 and third place in the all-around.
   Alyson Osborn and Kelsey Phillips from Auburn Gymnastics Center took the third and fourth place all-around for the senior division. Phillips won beam with a 9.0. Level 6 Elizabeth Jordan won third place on vault, 9.1 and bars 8.75.
