AUBURN - The Auburn Elite Allstars Cheerleading team from Auburn Gymnastics Center took 4th place in the season premiere competition in Stockton, Calif. last weekend amongst very strong senior level 2 squads from California.


   The squad of 13 athletes performed a two and a half minute routine comprised of significant tumbling, stunting, dance and cheer. “The team could not have been more nervous going into the competition on Sunday, but the girls handled it with grace. We are so proud of them,” said Natalie Otis, owner of Auburn Gymnastics Center. Also participating in the competition were eight members of a special needs cheerleading squad at Auburn Gymnastics Center. The Auburn Elite
Cheerstarz took to the arena standing out with their own routine also comprised of gymnastics moves, dance and jumps.
“They won a trophy and individual awards and were all very excited,” said coach Haley Christenson. “It is very exciting to be a part of coaching these remarkable kids with special needs – the are very cute.”
   The center’s gymnastics teams were out competing in Oroville, Calif. where Finn Thomas won her third consecutive first place all-around as well as first on vault, beam and floor. The level four team took third place team with contributions from every team member for the win. Highlights of the day came from Hannah Caminiti and Delilah Fulton who both qualified to compete in the state-wide competition in December on Sunday. There is only one qualifying meet left in the season. Hannah Fulton had her best meet of the season making the top 10 on the vault and the bars.
   Kristen Kopp competed in the level 4 older age division and won floor with a 9.2 and earned the bronze on bars with a 9.075. Level 5 competitors Allyson Osborn and Madison Candler both placed in four our of the five categories – both level 5 gymnasts will compete in two weeks for chance to qualify to compete at their state competitions.
   The gymnastics teams will take a week break then resume competition Nov. 6 while both cheer squads will have a two week to prepare for the next competition.
