State Championship in Stockton!

AUBURN - Auburn Gymnastics Center Level 8 team nabbed two of the possible slots to Regional Championships with stellar performances on Saturday at the USA Gymnastics Level 8, 9 and 10 State Championships in Stockton at McNair High School. Alice Neff won the second place level 8 all-around title in the 16-year-old age group with a total score of 35.125. She took second place on the balance beam (9.2) and third on floor (9.225) and vault (8.8).
“She is very consistent in training, and it carried over. She was nervous but she handled it beautifully,” said Coach Jennifer Christenson.
Team-mate Kellie Oesterling competed in the 15-year-old division scoring a total of 35.025 and placing on bars (8.8) and floor (9.15). The level 8 gymnasts’ performances qualified them to compete April 15 to 17 at the USA Gymnastics Region 1 Championships in Anaheim, Calif. Only the top gymnasts from state championships represent Northern California at the USA Gymnastics Championships in April. “We are proud to be sending these hard-working girls to represent Auburn against other gymnasts from Arizona, Hawaii, Nevada, Northern California, and Southern California,” Christenson said. “This meet represents quite an accomplishment for the gymnasts and our gym.”
