California State Championship 2013


AUBURN-Auburn Gymnastics Center’s winning gymnastics teams took to the equipment at the Northern California State competitions finalizing their successful season with four state event champions.
The state team for the Level 4 group training at Auburn Gymnastics Center was Sierra Gartrell, Midori Ogino, Maya Thrasher, Annaliese Nobile, Rebekah Durham and Annah Sutherland.

Gartrell won bars with a 9.3 and floor with a 9.3 and was awarded the state champion medal for those events as well as a strong third-place bronze finish in the all-around division with a 36.6.

“What an accomplishment,” said Coach Jennifer Christenson. “We started this sport with this young lady and she knew nothing about gymnastics and here she is a state champion on two events.”

Midori Ogino earned her spot in as the 2013 State Championship Beam Champion with a 9.525. Ogino was 5th on floor (9.25) and 6th (36.325) in the all-around. Teammate Maya Thrasher and Annalise Nobile placed on two events Nobile won the silver on vault with a 9.25 finished 8th on bars with an 8.525. Thrasher was 4th on the floor with a 9.22 and 9th on bars with an 8.6.

“There were many stand-out routines from the whole team,” Christenson said. “First they have to qualify to state - so they have to prove they are the best just be at the championship meet - then they pull every kid with the same age to go up against each other from 70 different gyms. They are doing amazing if they end up in the top 10 at this best of the best in Northern California.”

Rebekah Durham placed on bars with an 8th place finish while Annah Sutherland was consistent on each event and earned an all-around of 34.2.

At the 2013 Level 3 Northern California State championships the beam State Champion title was awarded to Marissa Jilot who put up a 9.5. She placed second over-all with a 37.275 and won the silver on floor with a 9.3 and bronze on bars with a 9.175.

Rylee Prechter won the silver on floor with a 9.35, bronze on vault and took 4th all-around with a 36.85.
Maddison Albee took the bronze on bars with a 9.2 and finished 7th with a 36 while Kyla Rector finished 6th on vault with a 9.225 and 7th on beam with an 8.7. Kirsten Jilot was a top 10 finisher on beam with an 8.575 while Alexa Tan was a top 10 finisher on bars with an 8.65.

“This has been an amazing year for us,” Christenson said. “We have had great kids coming at every level and it has been extremely rewarding to see how far the kids have come.”

  Auburn Gymnastics Center is offering classes for both recreational and

competitive gymnastics as well as a new adult program.
