Standing a top a four-tiered podium became a habit for Auburn gymnast Annaliese Nobile on Sunday.

 

AUBURN - The 8-year-old Auburn Elementary student won gold twice at the 2012 NorCal North State Championships on vault and bars with shocking scores of 9.55 and 9.5 out of 10.
"We knew we were going to see some great gymnastics but two gold medals at your first state championship meet is pretty impressive," said Auburn Gymnastics Center Coach Jennifer Christenson. “There were a total of eight from our gym competing this weekend and they all exceeded our expectations - we are on cloud nine right now."
The level 4 team competed in Oroville, Calif. on Saturday and Sunday in multiple sessions over two days. The gymnasts were Annah Sutherland, Sierra Gatrell, Maya Thrasher, Ginger Witchek, Breanna Phillips, Marissa Jilot and Kennedy Ambrosia.
In addition to winning two gold medals Nobile also earned the silver in the all-around for her age division by earning a score of 37.2.
Eight-year-old, Sutherland earned a 36.425 and meddled on bars, beam floor and in the all-around.
Ten-year-old, Gatrell earned a total of 36.075 taking second place on the vault with a 9.3 and bars with a 9.2.
Eight-year-old, Thrasher placed on vault with a 9.15, on floor with a 9.15 and in the all-around with a 36.
Nine-year-old, Witchek placed 2nd on vault earning silver with a 9.5, on floor with a 9.075 and in the all-around with a 35.925.
Eight-year-old, Phillips scored a 9.35 on vault and an 8.925 and a 35.95 in the all-around.
Seven-year-old Jilot scored a 9.1 on floor and ended with a 35.225 in the all-around and Ambrosia placed in the top 10 on vault with a 9.025 and bars with an 8.45 her all-around was a 33.825.
Combined in the eight different age divisions, the team ended up with 33 top 10 finishes in the individual event finals and all-around placements.
“We knew going in the team would do well and are very pleased with the results,” Christenson said. “What is exciting is that they are just beginning and they have a really good bond as a team.”
