NAWGJ Judge's Cup 2012

 

  AUBURN – Auburn Gymnastics Center level 4 and 5 teams competed in their first meet of the season at the “NAWGJ Judges Cup” Northern California Women Gymnastic Judges Association qualifier hosted by Technique Gymnastics in Rancho Cordova winning the third place team award for the level 4 group and taking home a vault gold.
   The Level 5 team competed in the first session on Saturday and started the five-month-long season strong.
Finn Thomas led with a 33.275 and a top 10 finish in the all-around and on vault (8.45) and bars (8.925). Midori Ogino scored a 31.3 with a top 10 finish on beam (8.45), Hannah Caminiti scored a 30.625 with a top 10 finish on bars (7.975) and beam (8.0), Rebekah Durham scored a 29.825 and McKenzie Dunigan scored a 31.2.
   The Level 4 athletes competed in the next session and finished with a 3rd place award in the team competition beating out three other teams for the bronze.
The Level 4’s were led in the “younger” age division of 6 to 7-year-olds by Annaliese Nobile who scored a 36.075 she placed 2nd in the all-around, 1st on vault (9.45), second on bars (9.225), fourth on beam (8.4) and third on floor (9.0). Breanna Phillips came in 5th in the all-around (34.9) she placed second on floor with an 8.8. Maya Thrasher came in 6th in the all-around (34.85). Thrasher placed second on beam with an 8.8. Marissa Jilot was in the top 10 in the all-around with a 32.1.
   Annah Sutherland led the “middle” age division of 8-year-olds with an all-around of 34.6. She placed in the top 10 out of 20 competitors on floor (8.525) and beam (8.825). Kirsten Jilot scored a 29.4 – she scored highest on vault with an 8.45.
   Sierra Gartrell led the “older” 9-year-old and up division with a 35.425 earning her a 4th place finish. She placed second on vault (9.375) and beam (8.75). Ginger Witchek scored a 32.7 in the all-around, Kennedy Ambrosia scored a 32.025 in the all-around and Emma Francis did her best on vault with a score of 8.675.
   The team will train for two more weeks before their September 8 competition in Elk Grove.
