X-Cel gymnasts competed over two days in Arizona at the famed Arizona Cardinal Stadium!


AUBURN – Auburn Gymnastics center optional team posted some of its biggest scores in Arizona over the weekend winning event titles on every event and taking home a second place team trophy.

  The 10-person optional team shined as the level 7, 8 and X-Cel gymnasts competed over two days in Arizona at the famed Arizona Cardinal Stadium.

  With more than 2,500 competitors in attendance - the level 8 team was the first to compete. Alice Neff stood out taking second place all-around with a total score of 35.00 and third place on floor with a 9.075. Teammate Kellie Oesterling won second place on bars with an 8.775.

  “This is a big meet for us and the coaching staff was blown away at the performances these young ladies delivered,” coach Jennifer Christenson said.

  Level 7 team of Janna Woodward, Elizabeth Jordan and Haley Christenson took home a total of eight medals for being in the top five in their respective age divisions at the tough competition.

  Christenson placed on floor with a 9.025, Woodward placed on bars with a 9.0, beam with a 9.3 and in the all-around with a 35.65 while Jordan took medals on vault with a 9.05, bars with an 8.95, floor with a 9.0 and all-around with a 35.725.

  The X-Cel team of Cassidy Noreen, Haley Christenson, Shelby Jungers, Kaitlin Woytus and Katie Ring took second place as a team bringing home yet another trophy and adding more wins to a banner year for the club’s team.

  Individual event winners were Noreen who won the gold on bars (9.2), beam (9.575) and in the all-around (36.8), Christenson took gold on floor (9.525), vault (9.2) while Jungers took second on beam with a 9.175.

  Ring had the gymnastics meet of her career winning first in the all-around and first on beam (9.1) and floor (9.2). Woytus took second on beam (9.05) and second on floor (8.9). The teams will have two week’s break and resume competition.
