Byers Invitational 2011

 

AUBURN - Auburn Gymnastics Center level 7 and 8 gymnasts from 11 years old to 16 years old took to the mats on Sunday in Rocklin competing for the first time at a meet hosted by Sacramento’s Byers Gymnastics Club.

  The team performed at William Jessup University on the vault, bars, beam and floor hitting some routines and shaking on others where new tricks had been added.

  The level 8 gymnasts held their heads high with both gymnasts from Auburn taking the podium to win 2nd and 3rd place all-around by turning in solid performances an effort that will qualify them for the upcoming state competition.

  Kellie Oesterling had her best meet of the season staying consistent on each event to earn second place with a total score from all four events of 35.675. In the individual event finals she took the silver on vault (8.725) and bars (9.0) and the bronze on floor (9.05) and placed fourth on beam (9.2).

  Alice Neff took the bronze all-around with a (35.275) and bronze on vault (8.675). Neff clinched the first place beam medal with a stunning routine and a score of 9.375.

  Level 7 team was led by Elizabeth Jordan who earned a 34.4 while Janna Woodward and Haley Christenson earned a 33.475. Christenson placed on two events – vault with a 9.15 and floor with a 9.35.

  The team will hit the road again next weekend along with the competitive boys’ team for their last regular meet of the season before the championship meet qualifiers begin.
