AUBURN- Boys’ gymnastics competitive season got into swing this
weekend for the boys team at Auburn Gymnastics Center!

Auburn Gymnastics Center level 4 and 5 gymnasts attended the 2011 Oroville Invitational hosted by Oroville Gymnastics all placing in the top 10 in the all-around and two team members earning a gold and silver medal.
The competition was tough as more than 50 competitors from northern California gathered for the event. However, even with the stiff competition, Bryce Dunigan, a level 4 gymnast, took home the gold on the vault marking the first gold medal for the gymnast this season. The boys compete in seven divisions – floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, high bar and all-around.
Nine-year-old Dunigan took top ten on floor, pommel, vault, parallel bars, high bar and all-around marking a successful first competition of the season for him.
Level 5 gymnasts Jordan Owens (9) placed second on floor while teammate Zeph Thomas (8) placed in the top 10 on every event. His best placement of the day came on pommel where he scored a 13.6. The men’s’ gymnastics score is a combination of adding up the difficulty of any given routine and then taking away any technical deductions the gymnast performed.

The team will continue training this week while the optional girls’ team prepares for their first competition set for Tuesday, January 11 at Auburn Gymnastics Center. Members of the gym’s cheerleading squad are also competing this coming weekend in Davis.

Auburn Gymnastics Center specializes in teaching gymnastics to children of all ages and

abilities and features a special needs gymnastics program that offers scholarships.
